The PYB Basketball Academy is Philadelphia Youth Basketball's premier year-round basketball and youth development program for students in Kindergarten through 9th grade. Designed for athletes of all skill levels, Academy combines high-quality basketball instruction with mentorship and enrichment to help young people grow as players, students, leaders, and teammates.
Offered in four 10-week seasons (Fall, Winter I, Winter II, and Spring), Academy provides a consistent, structured environment where participants build basketball skills while developing confidence, discipline, and lifelong habits for success.
Every Academy session includes:
- 🏀 Basketball Skill Development – Progressive instruction in shooting, ball handling, passing, footwork, defense, basketball IQ, and team concepts.
- 🏆 Team Practices & Competitive Play – Athletes apply what they learn through structured practices, Friday Night Lights competition, and age-appropriate tournament opportunities.
- 🧠 Off-Court Enrichment – Interactive lessons focused on leadership, social-emotional learning, financial literacy, career exploration, digital media, and healthy decision-making.
- 💪 Performance Training & Wellness – Conditioning, strength, agility, mobility, injury prevention, and mental wellness activities that support athletic performance and overall well-being.
- 🍽️ Healthy Meals – Nutritious meals are provided to help fuel learning, growth, and performance.
At PYB, basketball is the entry point—not the end goal. Our Academy is intentionally designed to help participants develop resilience, accountability, communication skills, leadership, and a strong sense of community alongside their athletic growth. Families are also an important part of the experience through regular engagement opportunities and resources that support each child's development.
Whether your child is picking up a basketball for the first time or preparing to compete at the next level, the PYB Basketball Academy provides a fun, supportive, and challenging environment where every athlete has the opportunity to grow on and off the court.
